Life, Desire and Self Pleasure

My name is Aldo del Bo. I am an Italian photographer living in London.

I have always dreamed of portraying others' desires. That intimate moment when a gaze reveals itself to the world, and that world becomes visible. I tried to tell it with words when I was writing erotic novels, and then I found in photography the most evocative medium to make it immediately accessible to everyone, especially to those who, like me, fear losing the memory of the most intimate moments.

I started taking photos using a 50mm 1.2; I remember it well because I was able, in one shot, to capture in the gaze of my friends that brilliant light that makes each of us unique, and the expression of that moment guided me in the exploration of other parts of the male body, defining a whole that is vulnerable and strong at the same time.

About the project

The series Life, Desire and Self Pleasure (2026), it's the answer to the whisper: what lies hidden behind those glowing windows in a London night? A man, his form, his most secret longing, all explored in the erotic dance of the self.

Voyeurism, sensuality, and colours that beckon you to let go and dissolve into a solo man's dream.

Night falls, and the city awakens with a different pulse. We all are creatures of the dark, those of us who drink life in deep, heady draughts before surrendering to sleep. In these hours, we bloom; we shed our heavy armours to stand naked in the light of our own making, inhabiting the secret architectures of our desires. And so, in London, behind a window framed in defiant crimson, a man unspools the thread of his own story, living vibrantly within the saturated hues of a dream.
